Addressing Domestic Violence Against Women: Raising Awareness and Promoting Gender-Based Violence Prevention

Domestic violence against women is a form of abusive behavior perpetrated by a family member towards female members of the family. It can take several forms, including physical assault (such as hitting, kicking, biting, slapping, throwing objects, etc.), or psychological abuse, such as sexual assault, emotional abuse, control, domination, intimidation, stalking, or passive-aggressive abuse such as neglect or economic deprivation.

The Women’s Protection Center in Sinjar provided awareness-raising sessions to a group of men on “domestic violence and deprivation”, with the aim of educating them about domestic violence as a form of gender-based violence. This is part of the project “Improving Safety and Economic Opportunities for Internally Displaced Persons and Returnees” implemented by the Masela organization in partnership with the International Rescue Committee (IRC).
